Walnut Hill is a historic neighborhood located in north Omaha, Nebraska. It is bounded by North 40th Street on the east, Cuming Street on the south, Northwest Radial Highway and Saddle Creek Road on the west and Hamilton Street on the north.
The neighborhood was platted in the 1880s by Dr. Samuel Mercer, a prominent doctor and real estate developer who also owned the city's main streetcar company. Mercer made Walnut Hill one of the first streetcar suburbs in Omaha, with easy access to downtown and other amenities.
The neighborhood features many historic homes in various architectural styles, such as Queen Anne, Tudor Revival, Bungalow and Colonial Revival. The neighborhood also has several historic landmarks, such as the Prospect Hill Cemetery, the Walnut Hill Elementary School, the Walnut Hill Pumping Station and the Omaha Belt Line Railway.
